Accessory Design

Accessory Design treats sculpture as fashion by transforming hardware and building materials from Home Depot into functional and wearable objects. Pipe fittings, chains, clamps, straps, and other utilitarian components are reconfigured as handbags, wallets, and carrying cases while retaining their industrial character. The project shifts materials associated with construction and infrastructure into the language of personal accessories, questioning utility, value, identity, and the ways design can change how an ordinary object is understood. 2007
